I see you
Modern technology is wonderful! There are so many products available these days that make our lives as parents a lot easier. One of those products is our baby video monitor. We can always keep an eye on Westin and what he is up to when he's in his room. The other morning, he was soundly sleeping and looked so cute that I had to snap a picture of him on the video monitor screen since I didn't want to go into his room and wake him up. Before are a seriously of pictures of what happened next.

Westin Loves His Aunts!

Hair pulling
Last week when we were in Minnesota, Westin sure made us laugh. He was laying on a blanket on the floor wiggling around. My mom and I were talking and then all of a sudden Westin started crying. When we looked at him, he had a death grip on his hair and was pulling it as he tried to move his hand away from his head :) LOL! We had to pry his fingers open so he would stop pulling his own hair. After we got his fingers to let go, they were completely white from him having such a tight grip. Oh Westin :) we love you so much! You make us smile and laugh on a daily basis :)

Westin's First Month at Home
Geez, where has the time gone. I started this in January and am just now getting around to posting it. I guess it's a stroll down memory lane at this point,,,,
Just wanted to post some pictures from December of our little guy to capture the memories. Man, time sure flies! We were discharged home on a Tuesday night and the very next morning we were up and moving as we had a peds appointment/weight and bilirubin check for Westin. It was freezing cold outside - temperatures in the single digits. I remember thinking - gosh it would be so nice to have slept in and not set an alarm and get everyone dressed and out the door in the cold. Oh well. Westin's weight was down a little bit and his bilirubin was up slightly so that bought us another doctor's appointment on Thursday. The same thoughts crossed my mind as we were getting our little guy all bundled up and to the pediatrician - man, it would be so nice to sleep in and not go anywhere. Westin's weight was again down slightly to 5 lbs 8.5 oz {likely because he pooped right before we put him on the scale} and his bilirubin was up to 15.6 from 13.0 the day before. So, you guessed it, we bought ourselves another weight/bilirubin check the following day. It is not easy getting ready and getting out the door with a newborn, especially when the temperatures remained in the single digits during this time. Finally on that Friday, Westin's weight was up to 5 lb 11.5 oz and his bilirubin was down to 14.6 - things were finally moving in the right direction so we were cut a little slack - no doctor's appointment until the following Tuesday. In those first days, adjusting to having a newborn was something else and then to add in all of these peds appointments and trying to nurse and then having to pump and supplement Westin with pumped breast milk since he wasn't gaining weight - that was stressful.
There's something that I absolutely love about this picture of Westin. Just six days old. I love it so much probably because his eyes are open and they are so big!
Sorry this is a little out of order....
On Decemeber 6th, Westin met his Grandma and Grandpa Thorson for the first time.
On December 12/13 Westin met Grandma and Grandpa Loewe for the first time!
On December 19th, Westin met is Auntie Hillary and Uncle Ryan for the first time.
On December 21st, Westin met his Auntie Kristin and Uncle Dave for the first time.
Wow - picture overload. But that was our December recap :) More to come

Our little glow worm on 12/4/13 - he was pretty yellow from his elevated bilirubin level. One of the rare moments his eyes were actually open in the first few weeks. |
