I have not seen this before. My little Zoey is so naughty! We never previously had to worry about this because she is so overweight that getting up on the table was nearly impossible. Do you think she might be losing weight?! Ryan was kind of enough to snap a picture before getting her off the table - bad bad Zoey. Why is she starting to go on the table now? After all these years? Maybe she just wanted to watch TV - who knows. Our solutions to this problem - make sure the table chairs are pushed in as there is NO way that she could jump from the floor to the top of the table. Bad, bad Zoey.
{Please disregard the messy house and the sad, sad looking Christmas tree that our little rescue kitties had so much fun demolishing.}

Lots of Miles
I had to take a picture of this the other morning as I was sitting at a stop light. 88,888.8 miles and still going strong. I have to admit, my explorer has been a pretty good vehicle to have! {I secretly wish the temperature was 86 in this picture...oh well, wishful thinking....just over a week and I'll be in Hawaii!}

Decisions...decisions....
I know I picked the right career in life. The path wasn't straight and it definitely wasn't the easiest at times but I'm so happy with the decisions I have made. For one thing, I'm glad I'm not going into psychiatry. I'm on my psych rotation right now and every.....single.....morning.....it is the same thing "ugh, Kelsey, do we have to go in today?!" {Kelsey is one of my roommates and fellow med student.) I have the hardest time finding motivation to head into psych even though my days on the wards are actually pretty relaxed. And but pretty relaxed, I mean really relaxed. Here is what my days have consisted of for the past month. I wake up, hit the snooze {if you know me, I rarely ever hit the snooze button - I like uninterrupted sleep. So if I were going to snooze, I'd just set my alarm for a later time}, roll out of bed, jump in the shower, eat breakfast, watch some news, start my car with my fantastic automatic starter {thanks Ryan}, make it to the ward at 815ish, look up overnight events, team rounds from 9-1030ish and then I write notes, take an hour lunch break and then finish my notes and head home. Today I was done at 130ish. Even with my days being pretty light, I still don't like psych. It just doesn't float my boat.
Do you know what floats my boat? OB/GYN!!! I love, Love, LOVE this field of medicine. The days can be long {ahh, I'm having flashbacks to my gyn/onc rotations and my days that started at 530a and rarely ended prior to 6 or 7p} but I still love it! I love it even more than family practice which I thought is where I was headed in medicine but that's a post for another day :-) I have to submit my rank list for residency in the next couple weeks {prior to Hawaii so I can leave MN with no worries}. I should probably just submit my list now since I pretty much know the programs I really liked: Omaha, Ann Arbor and Rochester NY. We'll see what happens on Match Day {St. Patty's day this year!}.
You know, it's funny - sometimes you think you are headed down one path in life and then when life really happens, you are headed down a different path. I've learned that life is life and for the most part things happen for a reason and turn out the way they should. That's what I'm keeping in mind especially with Match Day approaching {please, please, please don't let me have to scramble -ha!}.

We're Making Progress
Ever since we bought our house, Ryan has had big dreams of a Man Cave. So there our basement has sat, an empty (we'll not really empty - we throw all our junk down there) and unfinished basement. But, we've slowly been making progress (just in time to move again for residencies - ha!). Thanks to our friend AJ and his electrical skills, this past weekend we pretty much finished up the wiring. We've installed lights, tons of outlets and speaker outlets. Ryan's dream of a Man Cave and our dream of having an in- home theater is becoming a reality.
Now all we have to do it install some more insulation to soundproof, put up drywall, lay tile for the floor and hang the screen, projector and speakers! Oh, and throw in a movie and pop some popcorn!! Yep, I think we will be done just in time to move in June :) Don't worry, we'll be back - we LOVE this house! Thanks for all your help AJ!

Just Dreaming...
...about Hawaii...
In just over a month, my husband, parents and in-laws will be joining me in Hawaii for a relaxing vacation. Lucky for me, I'm taking an elective there so I'm leaving in two weeks {yay!} I can't wait, especially since this is what my next 36 hours is going to be like...
See the house on the very right? That's where we are staying!!
This is the view from one of the balconies!
White Sands beach, which is literally a couple hundred feet away from the house!
...and about Maui...
I can seeing lots of relaxing on this deck at the house we are staying at in Maui!
The wonderful pool and hot tub - woo hoo!
I can see myself taking a little snooze here!

Long time in the making.
I've thought about starting a blog many times before. Sometimes I'd start one, write one post, and then delete it. I've talked about it with Ryan before, and he agreed a blog would be a good way for us to keep track of our lives. Now is the time that I am going to stick to it. Our lives feel/are so busy. I've spent the last several years of my life moving from place to place and I hope to document the crazy busy years of my life to come here on this blog. This will also be a way for me to keep my family up to date about what is going on in our lives as my husband and I will likely be moving out of MN come June for me to start residency. So, here it goes. Welcome to our blog! We are the Thorson's :-)
