I was able to have Christmas break off this year so Ryan and I drove back to Minnesota. I guess I should back up, over Thanksgiving there was a lot of talk about building a potato launcher. There was even a couple attempts to buy the parts but when it didn't pan out, we weren't in the mood to drive to Mankato to even all the necessary parts.
Prior to Christmas break, I sent a text message off to Ryan C. that said "spud launcher?" His reply: "huh?" Eventually his memory was refreshed and he told us that he and Hillary would bring down all the parts to make the launcher if Ryan and I brought the potatoes and static guard. {It was determined at our Thanksgiving dinner that static guard was the best propellent to use in a spud launcher.}
The Ryan's got down to work the night we got back to Minnesota crafting the spud launcher.

Three potential barrels for the spud launcher. |

Ryan is starting to get down to business. |

Ryan is intently focusing on his duties. |

This Ryan is focusing as well. |

Putting the last piece together. |
|
Success! |
|
I can tell Ryan wants to get outside and shoot a couple rounds off. |
|
The ended up putting the longer barrel on the gun and my dad was there to supervise. |
By the time they finished, it was late and dark outside but that didn't stop them from trying it out. From inside we could here the spud launcher go off and then lots of laughter. When we went to the window to see what was going on, all we could see was a fire ball every time the shot it off. Lol - boys...
