The Road to Hana!

 We survived! This was a pretty narrow, twisty little road, but we made it all the way to Hana. Instead of turning around once we got to Hana, we continued to drive straight all the way around the bigger part of the Island. Here is a picture recap of our adventure!
Lower Puohokamoa Falls - the first of many waterfalls for the day!

{taken at Kaumanhina State Wayside}
I just missed this whale beaching himself {I think that's what it's called - where they jump up out the water and then land on their backs}. Apparently male whales do this as they are fighting with another male whale over a female. I would have gotten a great picture, my camera was up and ready, I pushed the button...and my camera was turned off :(
Three Bears Falls

We were stopped for quite a while in this area. They were repaving the road ahead.

Driving into Wai'anapanapa Park

Mom and Dad at Wai'anapanapa Park

This is the blowhole - not very impressive compared to the prior blowholes we saw {I wasn't able to get a picture of water coming through}

Looks to see at this park

Lava tube near the black sand beach.

Hanawi Falls {I think but am not positive} we didn't stop we just drove by
The road got very narrow in some points.
Especially when you meet a big mack truck!

We both just barely fit on the road.
We had to fold in the side mirrors in order to make it by the truck. Note the metal mesh holding all the loose rocks in place from coming down and smashing cars.
Narrow roads and sharp turns.
Gorgeous views!

Once we finished the ride, we ate lunch at the Ulupalahua Ranch :-)
Once we got home, we all crashed. Being in a car for 7 hours takes a lot out of a person. Not to mention my poor mom has been sick with a little respiratory infection :(
